Let's hear a little bit about the driver - What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Allen Martin. I’m from New Holland Pennsylvania.
What got you into modifying cars and what kept you in it?
I’ve always been fascinated with anything that has an engine or wheels. I guess it started with Hot Wheels, then worked up to go karts, dirt bikes, and of coarse cars. I always liked the creative aspect of it, like envisioning modifying things in so many different ways.
Ok ok ok... Tell us about your ride, what is it?
It’s a 1991 VW Jetta coupe. Factory non-ac/non-sunroof car.
Exterior Mods?
Currently it’s mostly stock, with the exception of oem g60 front and rear flares, smoked ecodes, shaved front turn signals, and a euro plate tub. It’s on broadway static coilovers and a staggered set of Borbet Type A’s. The car used to be a bit more wild with a Hella DE grille, clear tails, air lift P3 air ride suspension, and 15x10 square BBS RS. Recently changed it to a more mild setup to keep it more everyday ‘driveable’.
Interior Mods?
Full Recaro anthracite interior with red stripe door cards, black one piece carpet, and mk4 shift knob/boot.
Anything special under the hood?
Just your typical 12v VR6 swap, with a 6262 precision turbo, migfab sri, ATP exhaust manifold, tial mvs wastegate, awic, 9:1 headspacer, arp head studs and rod bolts, running old C2 pro-maf management with 80# Bosch injectors and a Bosch 044 to keep up. Using a stock o2a with a clutch masters stage 3, tdi 5th gear, and a pinion brace.
What are some things you've done to your car that others might not notice?
A lot of people don’t catch the shaved front bumper at first. The rear axle beam was also narrowed by 3/4” on both sides to compensate for the low offset BBS RS when I was running them.
Anything else you'd like to add?
I built 90% of this car in my garage with basic tools and a lot of help from some amazing friends. I’d just like to thank everyone that has helped out with the car throughout the years. From helping chase down issues, to towing it when it would break far from home. I’ve also met some of the coolest people being in the VW community and couldn’t be more humble to have the car get the recognition it’s received over the 6 or so years I’ve owned/been building it. Right now I’m trying to focus on other life goals but sometime down the line I would love to give it a full makeover like it deserves. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to show and express the hard work that I’ve put into the car.
