Let's hear a little bit about the driver - What's your name and where are you from?
My name is David Hatmaker I am from San Diego, California.
What got you into modifying cars and what kept you in it?
I grew up watching and helping my father restore Volkswagen beetles and buses. Friends in high school and living in Southern California kept me in it. I never lost my desire or passion to modify cars or just about anything on wheels. I used to build and race downhill mountain bikes as well.
Ok ok ok... Tell us about your ride, what is it?

Anything special under the hood?
Under the hood resides a complete E55 AMG V8 swap. The car was originally a 3.2L V6.
What are some things you've done to your car that others might not notice?
Custom Body Work. The W211 E55 AMG rear diffuser custom molded to the W210 amg rear bumper as well as the all metal subtle wide body fenders TIG welded on.
Also the Euro-spec impact strips. (US spec amber side marker delete) & Has an electronic exhaust cutout for a little extra sound from the amg engine.
Anything else you'd like to add? (could be about anything)
I was permanently paralyzed from the waist down on 9/11/2004 leaving me wheelchair bound. But despite the fact that I was unable to walk I completed All of the work except the welding myself, in my garage. The air ride install. Engine swap. Fender flare paint and body work was all completed by me from my wheelchair. I don’t let something as small as not being able to walk rob me of my true passion for cars.
