Let's hear a little bit about the driver - What's your name and where are you from?
Yo, my name is Daniel, I’m 26 years old and I’m living in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany.
What got you into modifying cars and what kept you in it?
Well, I’m leading a tuning crew with currently around 30 members, so I’m in the scene for a bit now. It all started with modifying my scooter, a Yamaha Aerox at the age of 14.
The caddy is my 7th car of 9 overall and he will be with me for the rest of my life.
Ok ok ok... Tell us about your ride, what is it?
Well, like said, I’m driving a 1990 Volkswagen Caddy 14d. The engine is a stock 1.6 non-turbo diesel with 54hp. It is built for being driven so we we’re now at 15000km this year. We went to Wörthersee, visited more than enough VIP car meetings this year and just enjoy a great time. People love the mk1 caddy, it’s getting more rare every year.
Exterior Mods?
So, it all started with the TA Technix Airride and rear axle conversation kit. I installed the Airlift 3p for controls, the tank is sitting on the flatbed. This season I’m going with a Donald Duck themed design, every comic has been printed just for the caddy. The GTI front Splitter was wrapped with comics.
The 17inch O.Z. Anniversary 45 with 185/35 tires are imo a perfect match. It’s not the mainstream rim I’d say, but it just perfectly fits the car.
Interior Mods?
Long journeys need a comfortable seat. So I installed Recaro Ergomed seats, full electrical. The drivers seat can even be heated or ventilated.
The steering wheel is a 70s Porsche Nardi Personal. Insider information say, it could be a real Porsche wheel. I’m not sure about that at all, I just can say: dude I love the looks and the feels on a Mahagoni wheel 🤤 it’s awesome. To be honest I had the steering wheel even before i even bought the caddy.
The interior will get some treatment when the season is over.
Anything special under the hood?
I’m planning a engine swap starting this year, but it’s not a sure thing yet. I’ll let you know if and when I’m going to start that.
What are some things you've done to your car that others might not notice?
Well... I think my ride is pretty unique with all the details and love I put in it, but isn’t every car unique its own way?
All I know is: The emotions and happiness in all those faces and eyes when they see the Donald-Caddy while taking a picture or two... that’s something you can’t pay for.
Anything else you'd like to add? (could be about anything)
Will, I’m honestly happy to know you and I hope you’ll achieve everything you want with your brand. I wish you best of luck for your future plans, can’t wait to see your next genius step 😬👍🏻 thanks for this interview option, keep dubbin!
