Auto Klēts, Latvia. Building with a passion
What is your name and where are you located?
Hi! We are a group of car enthusiasts. Nickolay, Viesturs and Aleksandrs. Located in Riga, Latvia.
What is your workshop name? Is it your work? What made you interested in the cars you work on?
Workshop name is Auto Klēts, which can be translated from Latvian as a Car Barn. Yes it is our main work. So we built a workshop from an old small warehouse in 2016. We found each other because of old Volkswagens. Long time ago we met at forum www.mk1.lv and in 2016 decided to open this workshop to repair and build Volkswagens for our friends and maybe make some business with those works :)
Tell me about some of your favorite cars you've worked on!
We have worked not only with VWs. Old Volvos, BMW, Opels and even Lada. Now we are in love with VW T3. We are worked with one Syncro Westfalia model. Rebuild gearbox, some TDI upgrade, Cruise Control any many other options. And then test drive in mud and sand. That was awesome. Love this car.
Also we have one favorite project Polo mk2. The car nickname is “Homeless dog” because of the outfit. Real sleeper! We have swapped 1.4 16v engine from mk3 polo. Full engine restoration, exhaust, wires and a lot of customized parts. On the road this car leaves an impression. Looks ugly, but drive fast )
Do you have any specialty in car modifications?
Yes. We do a lot of fabrication works. Custom exhaust, piping, intercoolers. Love to swap some new engines in old cars. I think it was called by Retrofit. All jobs are made with guarantee and officially registered in our technical department. At the moment we have a couple VW T3 in process and Caddy with TDI swap .
Have you been to Wörthersee? Do you plan to go?
Neverbeen :) Maybe someday we will go, but we need to work a lot to impress the audience. And this is not a main goal for us.
